Doctor Petraglia Letter

Compassionate, willing to try new medical ideas and an extreme and sincere concern of my well-being is my one-sentence description of my experiences with Dr Petraglia and his outstanding staff.
The goal we all share is to be able to lie down, totally relax and not feel any pain ’Äì in fact not really feel our bodies at all ’Äì and go to sleep. And then not wake up until we are well rested several hours later.
Being able to function as we need and want to, being able to sleep an entire night without being awakened by pain and being able to concentrate and focus on things without pain overwhelming our minds and bodies ’Äì you know, like we were designed to be ’Äì is all that any of us want.
My own personal story is probably a bit different than most. You see I have survived Stage 4 cancer and a severe accident involving a semi truck and trailer full of logs and tree stumps from a project in Yosemite ’Äì all in the last three years.
Fortunately my cancer is in remission (much to the surprise and satisfaction of my doctors) and my treatments of chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries are behind me.

I was fully recovered from all of that when on April 6 of last year my car was demolished by a truck which had gone out of control, rolled on its side and came smashing into my lane, head-on. Fortunately I was alone in my car.

After the rescue squad cut me out of it, I was airlifted to the hospital in Fresno. I don’Äôt remember any of that ’Äì I was unconscious. Anyhow the doctors discovered I had suffered a bad concussion, three fractured vertebrae, a broken and dislocated left arm, lacerations and contusions and injuries to my left eye and ear.

I was in severe pain and was given several different pain medications to help with the pain.

After I was released from the hospital I visited several specialists for all of my different injuries. And with time some of my injuries healed. But the pain in my back and leg persisted. The doctors just kept prescribing more pills and said there was nothing else they could do- that time would probably eventually heal the injuries.

Well, after almost a full year of listening to that, I found Dr Petraglia. He has tried new medications and performed a lumbar injection. The difference is amazing! I still have pain, but not near the level I had before.

At our first meeting he was attentive, took plenty of time listening to me and discussing my concerns. His staff was kind, concerned and extremely patient to me. My speech is still impaired from my brain injuries and it is often very difficult for me to express my thoughts or for people to understand me. Doctor Petraglia and his entire staff have been incredibly kind and most understanding.

I have another lumbar injection scheduled soon and I’Äôm very hopeful that that will relieve my pain even further. I don’Äôt like taking any medications. With the help I have been receiving ’Äì that day will soon come.

Yes, Doctor Petraglia, his associates and his staff are that good.

I wanted to submit a testimonial to Dr Petraglia and to Ashley.
I have been a patient with Dr. Petraglia for appoximately 9 months. I went to Dr. Petraglia with symptoms of headaches and numbness in my arm after an accident that had occurred in 2008. Dr. Petraglia was generous with his time and showed genuine concern for my health. He performed epidural procedures in a timely and professional manner. When the time came to make the very difficult decision for surgery he offerred to be my anesthesiologist knowing that he would have to re-schedule a previously planned personal matter. He showed great character as my Doctor by being there for me when I needed a Doctor that I could trust. Dr. Petraglia's Nurse/receptionist, Ashley, was also there to answer any questions and made my visit's to the Doctor's office as pleasant as I have ever experienced. She also showed genuine concern for my health by the way she took time to schedule me in for appointments(even at the last minute) and always treated me with care and respect. Thank You Dr. Petraglia and Ashley for everything you have done for me.
